    The elephant was Laos national animal for a very long time since Laos was known as the land of a million elephants (Lan Xang). From many hundred of years elephants have been the symbol of prosperity and represent the strength of the nation. Lao people pay their respect for this beautiful majestic animal through festivals and ceremonies for centuries.
